    Timeline:

    • 2021: Council directed staff to develop a process for updating codes every three years with a one year lag behind new model codes being released by International Code Council (ICC). This means that, going forward, as new ICC codes are released (for example, in 2024), the City of Edgewater should plan to adopt these updated codes in 2025.
    • 2022: City Council voted to adopt the 2018 ICC codes
    • 2023: Adopt 2021 Codes with new recommended amendments for local energy efficiency standards (EV ready, Solar ready, Electric ready), residential fire sprinkler systems, and temporary shelter needs.
