First Community Meal & Conversation was a Great Success!

Event: Community Meal and Conversation #1 (public meeting)

Date and Time: Thursday, May 25, 2023, 6:00 - 7:30 pm

Location: Jefferson Jr/Sr High School (2305 Pierce St.)

58 adults attended and were divided into twelve (12) small groups for table discussions. Nine (9) children enjoyed the event’s kid’s zone, bringing the total number of attendees to sixty-seven (67). Attendees included residents (both renters and homeowners), local business owners, and current or former municipal employees. There were nine (9) community surveys completed on-site.

Questions: Each table was provided with the following questions to generate conversation and dialogue:

“From the survey, Equitable and diverse – everyone can be themselves and thrive here AND Welcoming – genial, small-town environment are the leading answers as the community’s top priorities. What do each of these statements mean to you? How do you experience equitable and diverse, and welcoming in our community? Is there anything missing in our community to support these priorities?”.

The second question asked, “also from the survey, respondents indicated they support the need to address affordable housing in our community. What does ‘affordable housing’ mean to you?”

And finally, “what one word describes the ideal future of Edgewater?”
