Thank you for this thoughtful question! Sidewalk accessibility is a priority for this Comprehensive Plan. We would love to hear more about your experience navigating Edgewater's sidewalks and any other context you can provide. Come to our Community Workshop on February 8th to speak to mobility experts and provide more input on similar topics. If you are unable to attend, please fill out our Phase 3 Questionnaire, located here!

We are sorry you missed the May 25 Community Meeting on the Comp Plan... and glad you want to stay involved!  There will be more ways for communtiy input coming up in the process, and more community meetings too - so stay tuned!

Another great way to stay up to date on all things happening in Edgewater - is to sign up for the  City's Newsletter, the Town Cryer - link:   https://www.edgewaterco.gov/living-here/welcome-to-edgewater/city-newsletter

We also have several volunteer City boards that you can apply to be on as openings come up.  Some of our boards include: Planning Commission; Board of Adjustments and Appeals; Sustainabiltiy Board; History, Arts, Recreation and Parks Board; and, the Edgewater Redevelopment Authority.  Link to learn more about these here:  https://www.edgewaterco.gov/your-government/boards-commissions

Thank you and we look forward to meeting you at an upcoming Comp Plan event!

Why are the sidewalks so narrow?

AC asked over 1 year ago

Thanks for the question. Most of the City of Edgewater's current housing stock was developed in the 1950's if not before, so sidewalks were a little different in those times. You can also see the different areas of development of the City as the sidewalks are different widths or even in different locations based on different time periods they were developed. The City has been working to update sidewalks with new development. Hope this helps but please reach out if this does not answer your question.

  • Share Hey there - I recall a couple of years ago that Edgewater planned to redesign 25th Ave between Sheridan and Benton, and redo the parking lot and signage at 25th and Sheridan.
